Ever wish your ride to school didn’t take so long? Try climbing aboard this jet-powered school bus, and you may have a few more minutes to sleep in this morning.
Made by master mechanic Paul Stender (of speeding port-a-potty fame), this school bus is made of aviation grade metals, fitted with a jet engine, and can reach speeds up to 347mph! Watch it in action after the jump:

While the Jetsons lived in the far-off year 2062, one aspect of their futuristic world will become a reality next year: flying cars
We previously reported on the Transition, the two-seater drivable aircraft that the Massachusetts company Terrafugia has been developing over the past four years.
The Federal Aviation Administration recently approved the vehicle, and the company expects it to be available by the end of 2011.

After tallying over 10,000 online votes and scores from expert judging panels, a team of three high school students from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, CA, has been named the Grand Prize winner of the DASH+ student contest.
The winning team’s futuristic dashboard design incorporates technology that continuously calculates maximum fuel economy based on previous performance of other vehicles on similar road conditions. The dashboard alerts the driver of environmental impact and awards GreenPoints, creating an eco-friendly competition.

Texting, talking on the phone, and eating are all dangerous distractions while driving. Every year, 37,000 people in the United States are killed by traffic accidents, and 90 percent are a result of driver error.
That is why Volvo Car Corp. is testing an in-car system that can sense an approaching pedestrian and brake automatically if the driver does not.
