Great Minds in STEM provides scholarships for students of Hispanic origin or involved with the Hispanic community who maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 or high; focus their studies in science, technology, engineering or math; and demonstrate leadership through academic achievements and campus/community activities. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $5,000. Application deadline: April 30, 2010.

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society Columbia River Chapter
announces its Seventh Annual Scholarship Program to financially assist American Indian students seeking degrees in math, science, engineering, business and health. The AISES-CRC Scholarship Program awards scholarships to qualified American Indian applicants — high school or college students — enrolled full-time who reside in Washington, Idaho or Oregon. Candidates must show proof of Tribal Affiliation. Deadline: All materials must be received by January 31st, 2010. Amount: 2 scholarships for $1,000 and 1 for $500.

The DuPont Challenge© Science Essay Competition invites students grades 7 – 12 to write a 700- to 1,000-word essay about a scientific discovery, theory, event or technological application. Winners receive savings bonds up to $5,000 and an expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center. The program also rewards the contributions of the winning students’ teachers with accompanying trips, $500 education grants, and sponsorship to attend the 2011 NSTA National Conference on Science Education in San Francisco. ASCO Numatics will award two, $5,000 scholarships to U.S. engineering students who are pursuing careers in industrial automation-related disciplines. Additionally, ASCO Numatics will make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of the colleges in which the winners are enrolled.

The University of Maine Microelectronics Scholarship Consortium will provide merit-based scholarships and co-op work experience to promising first-year, sophomore, junior, and senior students interested in microelectronics/semiconductor industry and majoring in either engineering or science at the University of Maine. For the 2009-2010 academic year, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be eligible for a $7,500 academic scholarship; First-year students entering the University of Maine are eligible for a $1,500 academic scholarship.
