Industrial Engineer

I always knew that I wanted to be an engineer because I like looking at how things are done and finding ways to do them better. As an Industrial Engineer, I designed an optimization model that will help the Air Force distribute disaster relief more efficiently and ensure that supplies get to areas that need them on time and in correct quantities.

At school I did volunteer work through the Volunteer Action Center and served as a peer mentor in the Freshman Engineering Program. I also helped found a Chinese Culture and Language club. What I value most about studying at the University of Arkansas is the respect that is given to undergraduates. The professors gave me a lot of responsibility and independence and I can tailor my degree to what I’m really interested in.

I have also participated in two study abroad programs. I took classes at the University of Bristol in England and traveled to Bangalore, India to learn about ground-water management and Indian culture. I’ve learned that travel is necessary to my happiness. I am currently applying to PhD programs and I plan on teaching at the university level.
