The Young Engineering and Science Scholars (YESS) program at Caltech is a three-week summer residential program for exceptional underrepresented high school students and others who feel they would benefit from the program. The YESS program is designed for students who exhibit an interest in science and engineering and wish to engage in collaborative learning. The YESS program aims to challenge students beyond the traditional high school classroom environment by providing first-hand exposure to research scientists and engineers as well as an introduction to the university science and engineering culture.

The Center of Advanced Materials for Purification of Water with Systems (WaterCAMPWS) is an National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center headquartered on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. Structured around a model of interdisciplinary, multi-institution, and international collaboration, the WaterCAMPWS mission is to develop revolutionary technologies to purify the earth’s waters for drinking, agricultural, industrial, and ecological applications. Teams of WaterCAMPWS researchers and students are working on the next generation of new materials and systems for safely and economically disinfecting, decontaminating, desalinating and reusing water. Research areas include chemical oxidation-reduction science and processes; biochemical processes; and active aqueous transport processes.

The Engineering Summer Program (ESP) is a FREE six-week residential program for students who will be high school juniors or seniors in the upcoming school year. The ESP course curriculum includes math, engineering, science, and technical communications. Other structured programming such as industry site visits, cultural enrichment activities, and faculty mentoring will help you gain a better understanding of the field of engineering and its disciplines.
ESP is targeted to high school students from groups traditionally under-represented in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field. African-American, Laotian, Vietnamese, Hmong, and Cambodian students are especially encouraged to apply, as are women from all backgrounds.

The Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Program (SYP) will introduce you to careers and allow you to develop new skills through laboratory, classroom, and field experiences. The program includes more than seventy one-week explorations, scheduled over multiple weeks. You may attend only one exploration per week, but can register for multiple weeks. A full schedule of weekend activities are planned for you if you are enrolled for consecutive weeks. Girls Researching Our World is a year round program for middle school girls. All events are designed to help girls explore the fields of science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM). Saturday events during the school year are themed around how scientists and engineers make the world a better place. During the summer girls who have completed the 6th and 7th grades are invited to a three day residential camp that provides a wide variety of hands-on STEM activities.
