Here’s the good news: the eGFI website has won a Gold ADDY Award in the category of Websites, Consumer Flash, Services!
Every year, the American Advertising Federation holds local, regional, and national competitions for the ADDY Awards (think of it as the Oscars of advertising and media). Last week, Washington, DC, hosted its local ADDYs, honoring exceptional design in television, radio and print ads, as well as interactive media.
Kids Career Day, Feb. 13, 2010, is a half day program at the University of Akron, OH, designed to involve girls grades 1-5 in activities related to engineering, science, technology, and math careers. Each activity showcases professional women currently employed as scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. Registration deadline: Jan. 15, 2010. Cost: $6.
Remember the Chem-E Car Competition in Nashville we posted about earlier? Well, it looks like the team of chemical engineering students from Northeastern University have captured first place with their hydrogen-powered vehicle. The Aluminator, as the students named it, is a small car that looks like a toy but is actually capable of producing its own hydrogen fuel – pretty neat! [Boston.com]
National Lab Day, a new nationwide initiative “encouraging young people to be makers of things, not just consumers of things”, will be coming to you in May 2010, says President Obama. Look out for engineering students and professionals visiting your schools next year – it should mean another opportunity to get your hands dirty and participate in fun science-related activities!
