SMART Start STEM Career Day
On Saturday, November 14th, Girls Inc., DC invites middle school girls from the DC metro area to come meet 8 successful women in diverse Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers from a variety of organizations in the DC metro area. Girls will meet with the women in small groups (2-4) and get a chance to ask questions about their careers, their paths, and their lives. Parents, guardians, and teachers will have the opportunity to discuss ways to support their girls in their pursuit of STEM education and careers. Resources sheets listing local after school, weekend and summer programs geared towards girls in STEM as well as scholarship opportunities will be provided to parents and girls.
Participating women include STEM professionals at Cisco Systems, Exxon Mobile, Fannie Mae, the Navy and the Food and Drug Administration, among others.
This event will take place at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Visitor Center in Beltsville, MD on Saturday, November 14th from 12 PM – 3PM.
