Engaging Youth in Engineering (EYE)
Engaging Youth in Engineering (EYE) is a K-12 economic and workforce development initiative being piloted in 9 schools in the Mobile [AL] County Public School System. The purpose of EYE is to produce more high school graduates eager and able to pursue post-secondary careers and academics requiring a strong STEM background. EYE targets students from 4th and 5th grade through high school and involves both extra-curricular strategies through EYE Clubs and EYE summer camps and in-school strategies, e.g., EYE mini-units that impact all students in 6th,7th and 8th grade, as well as special courses for 8th and 9th graders, e.g., computer-driven and module-based Career Discoveries and project-based Engineering the Future courses.
