Texas Tech University T-STEM Center
WHAT IS A T-STEM CENTER? T-STEM stands for the Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiative. Our T-STEM Center is part of the Texas High School Project, which is working to improve STEM education and the college readiness of students in Texas.
HOW IS TEXAS TECH INVOLVED? The Texas Tech T-STEM Center is one of seven centers across the state.
The Texas Tech T-STEM Center specializes in pre-college engineering as an area of emphasis in the research and development of the resources and services we provide. We offer a range of innovative, research-driven professional development, curriculum, and support services to all Texas schools.
Engineering design projects provide a relevant and engaging method to teach STEM concepts that allows students to transfer STEM knowledge and skills from the context in which they were learned, to one in which they are applied.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Workshops cover a spectrum of topics from robotics to biotechnology and space science to green engineering. Emphasizing hands-on inquiry, best-practice teaching and assessment—our workshops give teachers a standards-based professional development experience that is both innovative and transforming.
TECHTOTES. TechTotes provide a simple, reliable approach to instructional technology. Affordable rental and dedicated IT support allow schools access to cutting-edge resources like laptop computers and robotics kits that might otherwise be beyond their reach.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. Extracurricular events like our South Plains Math & Science Competition and summer camps give students opportunities to excel and underscore STEM concepts from their academic classes.
