Women In Engineering (WIE) at Michigan Technological University

WIEThe Women in Engineering Workshop (WIE) allows high school freshman/sophomore/junior women, who are academically talented in mathematics and/or science, the opportunity to investigate careers in engineering and science. Practicing women engineers from industry and the government, educators, and university faculty lead informational sessions and discussions. Each session includes sessions in ten engineering fields, a laboratory experience, a team engineering project, and time to interact formally and informally with role models and talented peers.

SEMS Middle & High School Outreach Programs at Robert Morris University

SEMSWe believe students get excited about careers in through interaction and hands-on demonstrations. With that in mind, The School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (SEMS) at RMU continues to host Saturday workshops on an on-going basis during the fall and spring for middle and high school students. The workshops involve all three disciplines and some of the topics include Robotics with Lego Mindstorms, Modern Lab Instrumentation, Perfume Science, and ZOOB Mania.

Women Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin (WE@UT)

WEUTWomen Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin (WE@UT) is a program held in conjunction with the University Honors Colloquium. WE@UT is a program for high school senior women interested in exploring how engineering benefits society and impacts the world.

WE@UT participants will be housed on campus a day before the Colloquium starts and then join the rest of Honors Colloquium. Accommodations and food will be provided free of charge to all WE@UT participants.

INTROIntroduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day) is celebrated internationally during Engineers Week each year. Families and educators are encouraged to join their students at UT for an afternoon of engineering fun. Girl Day gives 1st through 8th grade students a chance to:

– have fun doing grade-specific, hands-on engineering activities
– meet students, professors and engineers from industry
– see what it’s like to be an engineer
