Wichita State University, a Kansas Board of Regents institution with a yearly enrollment of over 15,000 students, proudly hosts the Upward Bound Math-Science Center, commonly referred to as the “Galaxy Experience”. The Center serves high school freshmen-seniors who have the potential for success and demonstrated talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Services and activities undertaken by the Center are designed to increase post secondary education persistence and the capacity for students to pursue majors in STEM. It is the hope of program staff that emphasis on such courses of study will lead to careers in these areas.

The USC Viterbi School’s Engineering Writing Program publishes the online magazine Illumin (http://illumin.usc.edu) as an educational resource. Illumin’s mission is to be a “review of engineering in everyday life,” explaining the relevance of engineering practice to common, non-engineering activities. Students and teachers world-wide have used Illumin’s article’s for reports and projects.
