When it came time to selecting a major, my dad suggested engineering because he said I could do anything I wanted with an engineering degree. To me, it sounded like the perfect degree since I was not sure what I ultimately wanted to do.
Through my involvement in the National Society of Black Engineers, I began to see the importance of diversity within engineering. We as engineers are solving problems for a wide range of people and we cannot serve others if we do not understand them. If we as college students can excite the next generation, then we will all benefit. Bringing engineering to the attention of young students will only further innovation and creativity.
