At Explosives Camp you will get the unique opportunity to have hands-on learning experience with explosives: the first and only camp of its kind!
The program will comprise a variety of lectures, demonstrations, handling and shooting of explosives, field trips, projects and culminate in the setup and shooting of a fireworks display. It will encompass detonators, high explosives, blasting agents, rock blasting, display fireworks and demolition. You will have a behind-the-scenes look at how explosives are used in industry and in entertainment. But the number one thing that you will do at the Summer Explosives Camp is have fun!

This camp is for high school juniors and seniors who love working with computers and digital technologies. C.H.I.P. campers will enjoy “hands-on” computing in a variety of fields such as:
Computer Engineering: Designed to prepare engineers to work in the abstract world of software design and engineering and in the physical world where designs are often compromises between many opposing factors.
Computer Science: A dynamic field that includes development of algorithms (techniques for solving problems with computers), software development, and hardware/software implementations.

The Future Engineers in Dynamic Systems (FEDS) Academy is a unique two-week summer educational program for junior and senior high school students in the Baltimore region. It focuses on dynamics, vibration, acoustics, and system control in the mechanical engineering discipline. The academy will consist of ten students and take place in the Dynamic Systems and Vibrations Laboratory (DSVL) and surrounding classrooms at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Students will be exposed to the state-of-the-art research and facility in the DSVL and engaged in thought-provoking experiments and lectures led by undergraduate and graduate teaching fellows. They will learn how engineering activities can be used for the betterment of life.
