WHAT IS A T-STEM CENTER? T-STEM stands for the Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiative. Our T-STEM Center is part of the Texas High School Project, which is working to improve STEM education and the college readiness of students in Texas.
The Texas Tech T-STEM Center specializes in pre-college engineering as an area of emphasis in the research and development of the resources and services we provide. We offer a range of innovative, research-driven professional development, curriculum, and support services to all Texas schools.

Multiplying Your Options (MYO) camp at the University of Akron is a one week summer day camp for girls in the seventh and eighth grades that introduces the girls to mechanical, electrical, biomedical, civil, chemical, and mechanical polymer engineering. This camp will be held from June 22nd through June 26th, 2009. Each day is comprised of hands-on engineering activities in the morning led by our talented faculty and is followed by dynamic tours of local engineering firms in the afternoon. The students also spend the week working as a team, designing an edible car and competing against other student teams at the end of the week.

SEE UA! camp at the University of Akron is an engaging one week residential summer camp for girls in the ninth through twelfth grades that immerses the girls into mechanical, electrical, biomedical, civil, chemical, and mechanical polymer engineering. Students live in residence housing located on campus and can experience the life of a college student while exploring various engineering disciplines available at the University of Akron.

The Seminar for Top Engineering Prospects (STEP) provides you the opportunity to explore various engineering disciplines and job functions. Tours, demonstrations, classroom experiences, and projects are all designed to help students learn about engineering and gain a first-hand sense of what college life is all about. In addition, because the computer is a fundamental tool used by today’s engineer, you will tackle some challenging engineering problems using software packages such as Microsoft Excel.
