From an early age I have been fascinated with automobiles, engines, and different types of mechanical gadgets. In high school, I started a High Mileage Vehicle Club, involved in the research, design, and development of a fuel-efficient car achieving 171 to 204 miles per gallon.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In fiscal year 2008, SWE disbursed more than 130 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $400,000.
