Shanghai's Dream Cube Transfixes

Step into the Dream Cube, a beautiful and innovative pavilion on display at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. Not only is the Dream Cube an especially sustainable structure (it's made entirely from recycled CD cases), but it is also a lighting display that reacts organically to its visitors. Guests can change the colors of the surrounding LED lights by moving, waving their arms, or clapping.

Soccket: The Energy-Storing Soccer Ball

Four undergraduates from Harvard have come up with an invention that is both simple and brilliant: an energy-storing soccer ball for the developing world. Jessica Lin and three of her classmates - Jessica Matthews, Julia Silverman, and Hemali Thakkar - originally dreamed up the sOccket as a group project for their engineering class.
