The Homeschool Science Program (HSP) presents free materials science workshops, at the Sciencenter in Ithaca, NY, on select Tuesdays, 2-3 p.m. November 2010 through March 2011 for children ages 6-13 and their adult guardians. The workshops are hands-on and encourage students to explore how materials interact with each other. Upcoming workshops: November 9, 2010, Bridge Building; December 14, 2010, Sounds of Science. The Mother Daughter TEA (Technology Engineering Aptitude) events are 1-day professional development workshops to train participants in holding their own Mother/Daughter TEAs. Spark!Lab is a hands-on invention activity center at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, DC,. The fun activities incorporate history, science, engineering, technology, and art to help kids and families learn about the history and process of invention. Young visitors can play games, conduct science experiments, explore inventors’ notebooks, and even invent! Lab bench experiments are offered at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
