<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Great   Minds in STEM</strong> has a goal of providing over $250,000 in  scholarships in  2010. Scholarship  dollar amounts range from $500 to  $5,000.  The total number of scholarships awarded will be based on final   contributions given to the scholarship program by July 30, 2010.*</p>

<p><strong>Basic Scholarship Requirements:</strong></div>
<div style="padding-right: 10pt; padding-left: 33px; font-size: 13px; text-align: justify;">• Applicants must  demonstrate leadership through academic achievements and  campus/community activities<br />
• Applicants must be Science, Technology, Engineering or Math related  majors<br />
• Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher<br />
• Applicants must be of Hispanic origin and/or must significantly  participate in and promote organizations and activities in the Hispanic  community</div>
<p><strong>Each Scholarship Recipient Will Receive:</strong></p>

<div><strong>How to Apply</strong>: Great Minds in STEM  encourages all   engineering, applied science, computer science and math students to   apply this year. Here are the steps you should follow to submit your   2010 application:</div>
<blockquote><p>1. Download the 2010 application.<br />
2. Submit your completed application, transcript, letters of   recommendation, essay and resume in one envelope by the postmark date of   April 30, 2010.<br />
3. You only need to submit one application and accompanying  materials  to be considered for all the sponsored scholarships. Great Minds in STEM  will determine the various scholarships you  quality for based on your  submitted application.<br />
4. Great Minds in STEM will send you a postcard confirmation by  May 30,  2010 indicating that your application is either complete or   incomplete.<br />
5. The Selection Committee will meet to determine the 2010  scholarship  recipients.<br />
6. If you were selected as a 2010 HENAAC scholar, you will be  notified  no later than July 31, 2010.<br />
7. All Great Minds in STEM scholarships will be presented and  awarded  at the Annual HENAAC Conference in Lake Buena Vista, FL on  October  7-10, 2010.<br />

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Students must currently be attending high school or college. Post-graduate students are also eligible. Student must be at least 1/4 American Indian blood or at least 1/4 Alaskan Native. Student must be a member of tribe claimed and must be able to provide documentation to confirm.</p>
<p><em>Do I have to be from the Mid-Columbia area?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">No, but you do need to be from Washington, Oregon or Idaho. You can be attending a school outside the area, but your permanant residency must be from Washington, Oregon or Idaho.</p>
<p><em>What do I need to provide to apply?</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">We require transcripts from your most recent school, whether high school or college, a personal essay, tribal enrollment documentation, 2 letters of recommendation and a completed application.</p>
<p><em>How much is the scholarship for and how many are awarded?</em></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;">This year the scholarships are for $1000 each and $500. We will award up to (2) $1000 scholarships and (1) $500 scholarship.</p>

<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE</strong>: Postmarked by April 1. The application period for the 2010-2011 academic year will open in January 2010.</p>
<p align="left"><strong>ELIGIBILITY: </strong>Eligibility requirements differ for each scholarship. However, all scholarships require a <strong><strong> </strong>minimum 3.0 GPA</strong> both at the time of application and throughout the scholarship period, <strong>and</strong> students must be registered full time (12 hrs undergraduate / 9 hrs graduate) in a science, technology, engineering, or math discipline. The scholarships are merit-based and will be awarded on the candidate’s potential for leadership and for making a significant contribution to the engineering, instrumentation, systems, and automation professions, particularly as they relate to the application of fluid control and fluid power technologies. <p>The goals of SEAP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further their education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN Research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.</p>
<p><acronym title="Science and Engineering Apprentice Program">SEAP</acronym> provides competitive research internships to approximately 250 high school students each year. Participating students spend eight weeks during the summer doing research at approximately 15 <acronym title="Department of Navy">DoN</acronym> laboratories.</p>
<p>This program is intended for high school                students who have completed at least Grade                9. SEAP is an eight week summer research                opportunity at participating ONR laboratories.                Applicants must be 16 years of age for                most Laboratories, and U.S. citizens.                A competitive stipend is available. <strong>The                application cycle is from October to February</strong>.</p>
